Travel to Slovenia Ljubljana hotspot guide

Ljubljana might not be the most well-known capital in Europe. But with it’s nicely compact city centre, tons of artdeco buildings, great food and relaxed terraces, it is the perfect place for a trip.

With only 280.000 residents Ljubljana, finds itself in the top 10 of smallest capitals in Europe. The city is not yet overcrowded with tourists, which is a good thing, but it might be just a matter of time.. What are you waiting for? Just go already!

Gud-shop, Ljubljana

Gud shop

My favorite shop in Ljubljana. Gud shop sells artsy decor items & stationary from brands as Bloomingville, Design letters, Housedoctor. It is the perfect shop to look for gifts, to treat yourself on some interior items or just to browse and get inspired by the cool stuff they sell.

Robba restaurant Ljubljana

Interior crush ROBBA

ROBBA

If you love interior (and pink) then you should definitely go to ROBBA. The restaurant was designed by AKSL architects Spela & Aleš. They received the first prize of the Slovenian design competition in the category Public Interiors.

Want more than only eye candy? Don’t worry, they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner & the best cocktails. Yum!

Central Market, Slovenia

Central market Ljubljana

If you happen to be in Ljubljana on a Friday you are a luckybastard. Every Friday from mid-March to October the Central market will host a street food festival called Open Kitchen (Odprta Kuhna). You will get the chance to taste all kinds of Slovenian delights as the stuffed peppers. So delicious!

Out of Ljubljana:

Krof Trojane - Ljubljana

Gostinsko Podjetje, Trojane

Trojane is the go-to place if you are a sweet tooth who wants to try some local sweets. Their Krof with blueberry marmalade (some sort of big doughnut without a hole) is very famous. We got there by car (30 minute ride from Ljubljana) but you can also take the bus (50 minute ride from Ljubljana bus station).
